Anglia launches new transactional website for UK engineers

Anglia Components has launched a new transactional website – www.anglia-live.com – that combines same day shipment, next day delivery for meeting tight design deadlines with Anglia Part Tracker availability information, which ensures that only devices recommended for new designs are used. The site went live this week and looks to support the UK’s vibrant design engineering community.

According to Steve Rawlins, CEO of Anglia, “Anglia Live completes the missing link: a service that allows customers to take projects seamlessly from embryonic design to volume production. Customer will only be offered parts recommended for new designs, and are given full visibility of Anglia current and project stock levels and any product change or termination notifications issued by the supplier.”

While accepting that Anglia had come late to market with the new site, Rawlins said that he believed the delay had provided the company with a competitive advantage.

“We have been able to perform a proper review and so ensure that Anglia-live.com offers the most up-to-date user interface while avoiding some of the difficulties experienced by other sites.”

According to the company the site uses the industry’s most comprehensive parametric search engines, populated with data that has been verified and entered by Anglia itself. All the information on stock availability will be updated in real-time and be up to the minute at all times.

Other features include full predictive search based on Anglia designation, industry standard part number or description, and images and manufacturer’s data sheets for the majority of the 300,000 plus line items featured on the site.

The real real-time updating of stock is seen as a key differentiator by the company as with many other sites where stock is updated from a database delays of up to 30 – 60 minutes can be expected.

Dave Pearson, Technical Director, said “Anglia Live provides customers with effective support at the earliest stages in the development of a project. The stock and pricing information is live, order a device and the stock level will reduce in real-time.”

The site is also able to offer information in ready reel, split reel and smaller quantities that are ready for delivery from the company’s Wisbech Distribution Centre.

Anglia is also changing to a free delivery model as part of the launch where if the order is worth over £30 it will be shipped for free the next day. There will be an administration charge of £4.95 for orders under £30 but the site will advise a user if an order is close to £30 to give the engineer the option of selecting more parts.
