Blue Chip Technology Ltd has released the RE3 single board computer, an ARM Cortex based solution that provides dual display, an advanced graphics engine, rapid computation and a wealth of peripheral support such as CAN and Mini PC-Express. Designed and manufactured at Blue Chip”s headquarters in the UK, the RE3 offers engineers a new generation of small footprint, fan-less embedded computer.
The RE3 is available as a Cortex A9 Single Core, Dual Core and Quad Core, offering a PC level performance in a small space and low power. It has been designed to enable broad Internet connectivity such as GSM/GPRS, WiFi, Bluetooth, CAN, GPS and camera and video capabilities. It builds on Blue Chip’s RE1 and RE2, and further extends the range of processing and peripheral options. It is anticipated that the RE3 will enable innovation in automotive, medical, digital signage, industrial control and similar sectors that require a 24/7 mission critical performance.
“We are very excited about the RE3,” said Barry Husbands, Managing Director at Blue Chip Technology. “It is a great achievement by our engineering team. We are seeing more and more requirements for a control surface with touch on one display and then a second display showing something else, such as public information. The RE3 not only achieves this, but the graphics engines are also amazing, enabling a very high quality performance.”
Blue Chip Technology both designs and manufactures embedded computer systems. The company serves a wide range of industries, from mission critical systems for the global railway industry to automotive diagnostic test equipment, and from digital signage to industrial control. Blue Chip provides single board computers direct to OEM manufacturers and also undertakes complete product contract manufacturing.
“We have been builiding a formidable in-house engineering and design capability over recent years,” said Barry Husbands. “ The RE3 is very much the result of this effort. In this respect we are also able to easily customise the board and assist with software development and enclosure design, offering many technology companies a fast route to market with proven technology.”
