Stand J91
At Southern Electronics 2013, the HARTING Technology Group will be featuring its broad range of electrical and electronics interconnection solutions, including a number of innovative new products. The HARTING Technology Group’s electronics assembly operation – HARTING Integrated Solutions (HIS) – will also be demonstrating its backplane and sub-assembly capabilities.
A major new product on show is har-flexicon®, a miniature individual conductor connection technology with 1.27 mm spacing for field-assembly. Consisting of a pluggable SMD terminal block, with IDC wire connection, it allows the rapid, toolless termination of single wires directly on to a PCB, with the benefits of low processing costs, compatibility with automatic SMT mounting and reflow soldering process, and a high level of rigidity with large-area SMT fixings.
Flexible individual conductor wiring of industrial devices with PCBs as their key component is one of the principal requirements of modern device technology. Because sensor/actuator subassemblies need to be connected on site rapidly, PCB connection technology must continue to be universally applicable. These challenges are addressed by har-flexicon®, which offers flexibility in the connection of I/O signals with tool-less individual conductor wiring, allowing on-site assembly in the field.
Also new are a number of enhancements to the HARTING har-flex® robust circuit-board connector family which extend its versatility in a wide range of board-to-board and board-to-cable applications with a contact pitch of 1.27 mm.
Featuring a compact but robust design, har-flex® ensures reliable operation at all times – even under adverse conditions – through two large holders that ensure that the connectors are firmly held in place using surface-mount joints. The har-flex® IDC connector for flat ribbon cable also meets the most exacting requirements in terms of robustness.
A low-wear insertion and withdrawal procedure is ensured by a very smooth contact point between the male and female contacts. This is the result of a special follow-up treatment in the punching process which HARTING has developed from its extensive experience with punching technology. This characteristic also has a positive impact on vibration resistance, which has been verified according to recognised test standards.
The different har-flex® variants can be freely combined and enable modular device configurations. The spatial requirement on the circuit board is minimised thanks to the variable number of contacts from six to 100. har-flex® data transmission meets the requirements of modern transmission protocols, such as Gigabit Ethernet and PCI Express.
Other electronic interconnection solutions being featured include D-Sub, 2 mm metric, DIN 41612 and IDC types as well as MicroTCA card edge connectors that are capable of handling the high-speed and ultra-high-speed data rates employed in mobile telecommunications networks.
In the field of industrial connectors, HARTING is showing its industry-leading HanÒ heavy-duty connector family, which sets a worldwide standard for electrical connectors in sectors ranging from factory automation and machine manufacturing to transportation and wind energy. The HanÒ industrial connectors are supplemented by RJ industrial connectors and a wide range of Industrial Ethernet devices. HARTING’s industrial networking portfolio includes interfaces between industrial automation equipment and sensors and monitoring systems, communications within machines and control systems, and links between the industrial and office computing environments.
HARTING Integrated Solutions is featuring its electronics assembly capabilities, along with its expertise in project development, prototyping, test and evaluation. The company is an ISO9001 supplier, and its Northampton based manufacturing facility designs, manufactures and tests high-speed multi-layer backplanes and integrates them into card frames and enclosures. Cable assemblies from simple ribbon to advanced wiring looms are also offered.
About HARTING
The HARTING Group develops, manufactures and distributes electrical and electronic connectors, network components, pre-assembled system cables, and backplane assemblies. These products are capable of withstanding the harshest demands in industrial environments and provide high data rates for electronic applications.
HARTING connectors and network components are used in mechanical engineering and plant manufacturing, in automation systems, energy generation and distribution, and in electronic and telecommunication markets. Industrial connectors are also vital in construction machinery, rail vehicles and shipbuilding. HARTING offers Ethernet network components and cable systems for both indoor and outdoor networking applications involving power and data.
