UK based ARCOL Resistors, the long established specialists in resistor technology, is now offering the RWS range of compact precision power wirewound SMD resistors, the highest power SMD resistor design currently commercially available.

Altium, a specialist in Smart System Design Automation and a provider of solutions for 3D PCB design (Altium Designer) and embedded software development (TASKING), has released a new range of component libraries for board-level designs using the ARM Cortex-M based EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers, which were developed by Energy Micro and recently acquired by Silicon Labs.

TV One, a designer and manufacturer of video and multimedia processing equipment, has begun shipping the new CORIOmaster mini, the industry’s first all-in-one videowall processor. The mini allows a single all-in-one system to perform a range of video tasks simultaneously, including: real-time 360° video rotations, and multi projector edge blending.

Syfer’s E07 range of high current 3 terminal EMI chip filters has been extended to include a 3A device. Suitable for use on DC lines on PCB"s, these filters have been designed to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) emanating from high speed signal lines and IC’s preventing the propagation of high frequency noise along power lines.

AVX Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, has developed an innovative new process for the manufacture and test of high-reliability tantalum capacitors. The process was initially introduced to influential members of the military and aerospace industries at a Tantalum Hi-Rel Symposium earlier this year.

TT electronics’ Sensing and Control Division has introduced a new series of new non-contacting rotary position sensors offering up to 100 million revolutions. Designed to operate reliably in demanding conditions, the MagnePot series is available with sensing angles between 35 and 360 degrees.

Murata has started mass production of the LQP02TQ series of miniature 01005 (EIA) (0.4 x 0.2mm) film-type surface mount inductors designed for high frequency smartphone applications. Believed to have the highest Q-value of any other 01005 (EIA) -packaged inductor, the Q characteristics at 2.4 GHz are up to 30% higher than other products on the market.

Silicon Labs has introduced development kits and application software demonstrations for the EFM32 Wonder Gecko microcontroller (MCU) family, which was developed by Energy Micro, and recently acquired by Silicon Labs. The MCU line is based on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor core, which provides a full DSP instruction set and includes a hardware floating point unit (FPU) for faster computation performance.

In an effort to address the increasing complexity that is associated with advanced node designs, Cadence Design Systems has announced that TSMC has expanded collaboration with Cadence on the Virtuoso custom and analogue design platform to design and verify its own cutting-edge IP. Additionally, TSMC has extended its native SKILL-based process design kits (PDKs) portfolio to 16 nanometers, creating and delivering fully qualified and high-quality native SKILL-based PDKs to enable all the leading-edge features of the Virtuoso platform.

IQD’s new HGXO series of surface mount oscillators has been designed primarily for military applications such as smart munitions and projectile electronics although the devices can also be used in demanding industrial applications. Designed around a hermetically sealed high-shock crystal and a CMOS compatible integrated circuit, the new device can survive shock levels of up to 100,000G and vibration levels of 20g at 10-2000Hz swept sine in accordance with MIL-STD-202G.
