Major new releases of Matlab and Simulink announced

MathWorks has introduced Release 2012b with major updates to MATLAB and Simulink that will significantly improve use and navigation. The new Simulink Editor features tabbed windows, smart signal routing and simulation rewind while the MATLAB Desktop now includes a toolstrip that offers quick access to frequently used features and a MATLAB apps gallery. In addition, Release 2012b includes a redesigned help system with improved browsing, searching, filtering, and content organisation.

Wind River, a developer of embedded and mobile software, has introduced the Intelligent Device Platform, a software development environment built exclusively for machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. The platform addresses the security, connectivity, and manageability required for M2M device development. High-speed differential probe for high-voltage oscilloscope measurements

The new Yokogawa Model 701927 is a high-speed differential probe for high-voltage floating signal measurements using the company’s DLM2000 Series of mixed-signal oscilloscopes and other instruments equipped with the Yokogawa probe interface. The 701927 has a 3 dB bandwidth of DC to 150 MHz, and can measure differential or common-mode voltages up to ±1400 V (DC plus AC peak) or 1000 V RMS. For ease of use, the compact unit features automatic attenuation detection, and obtains its power supply via the Yokogawa probe interface. Input attenuation ratio is switchable between 1/50 and 1/500.

First DDR4 design IP solutions proven in 28nm silicon

Cadence Design Systems has announced that the first products in the Cadence DDR4 SDRAM PHY and memory controller design intellectual property (IP) family have been proven in silicon on TSMC’s 28HPM and 28HP process technologies. Cadence has received and characterised multiple versions of its DDR PHY and controller IP in 28nm silicon based on advanced drafts of the DDR4 standard. The proposed DDR4 standard, anticipated to be released by JEDEC later this year, will offer users substantial performance benefits over DDR3.
