Keithley Instruments has introduced the Model 2460 SourceMeter Source Measure Unit (SMU) Instrument, the company’s latest benchtop SMU instrument with a capacitive touchscreen graphical user interface (GUI). Everlight Electronics has introduced the HIR-C19D, a new 855nm high efficiency infrared (HIR) LED that features a low thermal resistance and a high radiant intensity in a very small SMD package. With a wave length which is nearly invisible to the human eye, the new 3W high-power IR LED is a suitable light source for infrared illumination in CCD cameras, night guard security and other discrete surveillance systems.

Samsung Electronics has announced its new 28 megapixel (MP) APS-C CMOS image sensor for digital cameras. Currently in mass production, the new S5KVB2 is designed into Samsung’s new compact system camera, the NX1. Utilizing Samsung’s advanced BSI pixel technology, the new S5KVB2 sensor is able to offer superior light absorption and by using a 65-nanometer (nm) low-power copper process as well as fine design technology, this new imager is able to meet the requirements for power efficiency and noiseless high quality imaging in high-end compact system camera formats.

Synopsys has announced the availability of RSoft OptSim Circuit, an extension of Synopsys' OptSim fibre optic systems modelling tool extending its capabilities to include photonic integrated circuits (PICs) - important optical components which enable faster fibre optic networks, accommodate more efficient bandwidths and support network traffic growth. The OptSim Circuit is intended to help designers accelerate the design of advanced optical telecommunication systems.
