Expanding its low-cost microcontroller (MCU) development ecosystem with sensor fusion technology, Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced the Sensor Hub BoosterPack for the Tiva C Series TM4C123G LaunchPad. This new Sensor Hub BoosterPack is a cost-effective, plug-in daughter card that allows ARM Cortex-M4 MCU developers to create products with up to seven types of motion and environmental sensing capabilities.

Microchip has launched two new 8-bit PIC microcontrollers, the PIC16F527 and PIC16F570. The devices combine the ease-of-use of a PIC MCU with low-cost analogue peripherals to create an integrated, cost-effective family that is suitable for a wide range of applications. With an on-chip dual Op Amp module, 8-bit ADC and two comparators, these MCUs are suitable for systems that require signal conditioning and amplification to interpret analogue inputs.

Amantys and EMEF (Empresa de Manutenção de Equipamento Ferroviário, S.A), the leading operator in the Portuguese railway maintenance sector, have announced the deployment of Amantys Power Insight technology in a traction converter. The deployment is part of a live trial demonstrating an innovative solution developed by EMEF, leveraging the advantages of Amantys Power Insight condition monitoring. The EMEF drive module upgrades the converter from older Gate Turn Off Thyristors (GTOs) to Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) Modules, and uses Power Insight monitoring embedded within Amantys IGBT gate drivers.

ams AG has released a reference design implementing a complete automotive Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) based on its accurate AS8515 data acquisition front end. AVX Corporation has introduced what it describes as a unique new open-ended card edge connector specifically designed to provide lighting engineers with a miniature, cost-effective, and high density pin-count solution for use in linear LED strip lighting. Designed without plastic end-walls to minimise length, the 00-9159 Series connectors feature a double-sided configuration for increased pin-count density, a central keying rib for strength and alignment, and a tin-to-tin contact interface for financial economy.
