MSC Technologies has announced its new MSC C6C-BT COM Express Type 6 module family based on the new Intel Atom E3800 processor technology (formerly codenamed “Bay Trail”). In comparison to Intel’s previous generation of Atom CPUs, the new multi-core processors base on a complete new architecture offering higher computing and graphics performance with optimised energy efficiency.
The MSC C6C-BT COM Express Type 6 module family is offered in seven variants the most powerful of which is based on the E3845 (1.91GHz, 10W TDP) and, for the first time, it offers a quad-core Intel Atom processor on a COM Express form factor. In addition MSC presents modules with dual-core E3827 (1.75GHz, 8W TDP), E3826 (1.46GHz, 6W TDP) and E3825 (1.33GHz, 6W TDP) and single-core E3815 (1.46GHz, 5W TDP) Intel Atom processor for less demanding applications. Besides these Atom based products there are computer-on-modules with N2920 (1.86/2.00GHz, 7.5W TDP) and J1900 (2.00/2.42GHz, 10W TDP) Intel Celeron processors with four cores available. The processors support Intel 64, Intel Virtualization technology and Intel® AES-NI.
The integrated Intel Gen 7 HD Graphics bases on the Graphics Engine known from the Intel Core processors and offers a significantly improved 2D and 3D graphics. DirectX 1.1, OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL 1.1 are supported. The video decoding hardware acceleration covers H.264, MPEG2, MVC, VC-1, WMV 9 and VP8 formats.
The MSC C6C-BT COM Express Type 6 module family in the Compact form factor of 95 x 95mm supports two independent displays. A display interface for DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI, an embedded DisplayPort (eDP) which can be switched to LVDS, LCD and VGA are available. The resolution of the display interfaces is up to 2560 x 1600 pixels.
The modules offer a USB 3.0 port, seven USB 2.0 ports, Gbit Ethernet, 3 x PCIe x1 Gen. 2.0, LPC, HD audio, I2C, SMBus, SPI Bus and two SATA-300 (up to 3 Gb/s) interfaces. A socket for MicroSD cards is a unique feature in this product class. The modules can be equipped with up to 8GB dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM.
