Nichia presents advanced automotive lighting technologies at SIA Vision 2026

Pixelated Light Source family and QuaLas RGB laser solutions take centre stage as Nichia celebrates its 70-year history and 30 years of the white LED

Nichia, a global specialist in LED and laser diode technology, will present a broad portfolio of automotive technologies at SIA VISION 2026, taking place on September 23–24 at Les Pyramides in Le Port-Marly, France.

On Stand 36, Nichia plans to demonstrate light-source technologies for adaptive headlighting, road projection and in-vehicle projection systems. Its solutions are designed to give engineers and designers at OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers greater control over light to improve visibility, communication, entertainment and brand experiences.

Nichia will present its wide range of Pixelated Light Source (PLS) solutions, led by µPLS, the compact microLED matrix developed to support high-definition adaptive driving beam, precise glare control, far-field illumination and the projection of lane guidance and other information onto the road. The display will also showcase µPLS Mini and DominoPLS for ADB, which provide greater flexibility for different resolution, packaging and system requirements across various vehicle design platforms and electronic architectures.

Another highlight will be the QuaLas RGB laser diode, a compact, high-brightness light source that delivers a wide colour gamut for projection and illumination applications. Its capabilities will be demonstrated through a 30-meter fibre-lighting installation illuminated from both ends.

SIA Vision takes place during a milestone year for Nichia. The company was founded 70 years ago in 1956 and is also marking 30 years since it developed the world’s first white LED.

“SIA Vision allows us to demonstrate the strength and breadth of Nichia’s automotive lighting portfolio,” said Yusuke “Karl” Yamazaki, Vice President of Automotive at Nichia Europe GmbH. “Our scalable PLS portfolio supports different levels of adaptive beam control and road projection, while QuaLas opens further possibilities for compact, high-brightness projection and personalized lighting experiences.”

SIA Vision 2026 brings together the automotive lighting and ADAS communities through technical sessions, exhibition displays and demonstration vehicles. Nichia will welcome OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and industry partners to its stand throughout the event. A dedicated VIP room will feature additional technologies and give visitors the opportunity to discuss specific applications in greater detail with Nichia’s technical team.
