FermionX, the West Sussex based contract electronics manufacturer have rounded off a strong year in 2018 with investment and growth in kit and infrastructure to expand its range of CEM services.
Dan Crothers, FermionX MD explains the investment “This is part of our ongoing-plan to increase CEM services to our customer base. It’s not just about building new components and one-off jobs, it’s also about working with our customers long term and offering a total package of services and expertise.”
Investment to increase service
The introduction of a new iPulse M20 SMT machine and Nordson AOI system increases capacity in build ability and quality checking. The company has also invested in a Seamark ZM-R720 automated BGA rework station, suitable for normal SMD (BGA, QFN etc.) & Micro-SMD components repair. Dan goes on to say “Often the term rework is a false economy in manufacturing, but as production automation continues to increase in speed and complexity, the decision to replace BGAs with new rather than rebuild the entire board, can be far more cost effective”.

FermionX has also expanded its sales team to increase the support and customer service still vital in the development of strong supplier to customer relationships. Will Patrick joins as Sales Manager, supported by Gary Rice as Technical Sales Manager. Both bring a number of years expertise to the roles from the FermionX brands of C-Tech and Airbox Sampling Pumps.
Brand investment and growth supports service delivery
From a product point of view, the FermionX brands are also focusing on strong market growth in 2019. The Seward brand of laboratory sampling blenders remain an industry leader and Airbox Asbestos Sampling Pumps continues to gain foothold in the global market as asbestos management becomes increasingly more high profile and regulated.

FermionX’s ability to develop their own products from design innovation and product re-fresh, to build and distribution, enables them to understand completely the issues faced by their customers in their own product development and production. This is what the FermionX team believe allows them to offer a unique service to their own customers – the ability to understand and react to issues within a design and build project, along with the standard expectations of quality and on-time delivery. The company are so confident of their commitment to quality and service that their factory performance stats can be downloaded monthly from the website www.fermionx.com.
Dan sums up the coming year for FermionX “We will continue to deliver total solutions for our customers, whether they require part or full CEM support and our brands will continue their focus on gaining market share through quality build and innovative product development. 2019 is all about continuing to do what we do best and looking at where we can innovate and lead.”
