HORIBA Scientific, an OEM of instruments and solutions for applications across a broad range of scientific R&D and quality control applications, has launched an online portal, www.horibafilters.com, that makes the selection of standard products much easier plus features a powerful Filter Creator.

HORIBA Scientific has launched an online portal, www.horibafilters.com, to make the selection of standard products much easier – plus it features a powerful Filter Creator
The Filter Creator allows users to specify a filter type (e.g. bandpass) and its desired spectral and physical properties. It should take an experienced engineer no more than one minute to specify their ideal filter, after which they are required to provide contact details. They will typically be contacted within 24 hours to discuss quantities, delivery timeframes and other commercial aspects.
John Cooper, technical sales specialist and marketing manager at HORIBA, comments: “Selecting, specifying and buying optical filters just got much easier. Appreciative of how busy our customers are, and acknowledging that they frequently wish to explore several different options, we have poured our considerable expertise into the HORIBA Filters portal. The Filter Creator is a particularly powerful tool. It allows users to fast-track to a point where they and our engineers can be discussing a well-defined specification. This improves productivity all round.”
As for standard products, the HORIBA Filters portal lists several hundred off-the-shelf filters and, when selection is made by Filter Type, the user is presented with options that include bandpass, longpass, shortpass, notch and dual-, triple- and quad-pass filters. The portal also offers a Search by Application option. Here, applications include Fluorescence Microscopy, Aerospace & Defence, Astronomy, Machine Vision, Photolithography and Raman Spectroscopy.
Whether browsing by filter type or application, the HORIBA Filters portal will either recommend a standard product or, if none is suitable, automatically launch the Filter Creator.
The HORIBA Filters portal is e-commerce-enabled, with prices available in pounds sterling and Euros, and a traditional Add-to-Basket function. In addition, all standard filter specifications are accompanied by transmission curves to enable engineers to make rapid and more informed decisions.
Cooper concludes: “Our portal was designed by optical engineers for optical engineers, and we have concentrated our efforts on delivering speed, performance and usefulness. For instance, the presentation of transmission curves removes any elements of doubt, certainly when compared to selecting filters on numerical data alone, and the Filter Creator tool is highly automated.”
The HORIBA Filters portal is live now and, by way of celebrating its launch, the promo code ‘Launch18’ will entitle users to a 10 per cent discount on all orders, including custom builds when using the Filter Creator, placed before the end of October 2018.
Further promo codes are likely to be available on HORIBA stands at trade shows; commencing with Photonex Europe Live at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, United Kingdom on the 10th and 11th October 2018.
