Mini IPS graphic displays for maximum visibility
High contrast ensures readability in sunlight
For developers of compact, mobile systems, DISPLAY VISIONS GmbH offers a powerful IPS colour display in miniature format. The EA TFT015-22AI measures just 1.5 inches or 32 mm. Yet despite its diminutive size, this graphic display has a resolution of 240×240 pixels and can represent 65,000 colours (16 bits). Thanks to a maximum luminance of 1,100 cd/m², it is still clearly legible even in direct sunlight. A capacitive touchscreen version is also available.
Colour stability is maintained even at very low viewing angles by using an in-plane switching panel (IPS) in combination with DISPLAY VISIONS’ all-angle colour stability (AACS) technology. This makes the graphic panel very interesting for applications in which reliable readability from different positions and in difficult lighting conditions is crucial — for example in medical devices, outdoor equipment or industrial handheld devices. With external dimensions of 32x35x3.2 mm, the compact TFT015-22AI can be integrated in a space-saving way. The FPC cable offers four different interface options: parallel control as an 18-bit RGB interface, 8- or 16-bit data bus, and SPI communication. The mini display is operated with 3.3 V. Its typical current draw varies only between 20 and 80 mA, depending on the brightness setting, making it suitable for battery-powered handheld devices. Specified for a temperature range of -20 to +70°C, the TFT015-22AI can also be exposed to harsh environments.
The mini graphics panel is available with a capacitive touch panel in the TFT015-22AITC version. The format is inevitably slightly larger and thicker in this version, measuring 44x46x3.5 mm. The maximum brightness is only marginally reduced to 1,000 cd/m². The touch surface is glued directly to the IPS display, providing additional protection against moisture, dust and scratches. The module is assembled by simply glueing it into the housing.
The manufacturer offers a suitable breakout board as well as a ready-made test board with USB connection (article number 9782-2USB) for development setups and tests with different microcontrollers. The versions with and without touch capability are both available from stock. DISPLAY VISIONS guarantees long-term availability of at least ten years.
