Versinetic launches two new boards enabling OEMs to build dual-socket EV chargers with one controller
Versinetic, the EV charger design consultancy, is launching two new charge controller boards designed to make AC EV chargers simpler and more cost-effective to build. CongaEEL and MinnoRay reduce the amount of hardware manufacturers need, including allowing two charging sockets to share a single controller rather than requiring one for each socket.
The two boards, aimed at charge point OEMs and CPOs, will launch at EV Charge Live at the NEC, running from 22 to 24 September 2026. Both will be on display on stand EV38, where Versinetic’s engineering consultants will be on hand to discuss charger builds.
CongaEEL is the consultancy’s integrated power controller board for public and commercial AC charging. It brings the three-phase mains contactor, onboard RDC-DD, current measurement and the ISO 15118 interface onto a single IEC 61851 compliant board. CongaEEL stacks with either of Versinetic’s controller boards, MinnoRay or MantaRay, and two CongaEEL boards pair with a single controller for a dual socket charger.
MinnoRay is Versinetic’s compact communications and controller board, built for cost-sensitive applications. It combines 10/100 Ethernet, an LTE Cat 1 bis modem, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in one board, and is OCPP 1.6 compliant. MinnoRay handles communications while the CongaEEL board it pairs with handles power and safety, including the ISO 15118 interface for Plug and Charge.
Together, the two boards let manufacturers build a single or dual socket, three-phase AC charger from fewer separate components, cutting the assembly, wiring and compliance testing that a charger design would otherwise need to complete from scratch.
“An EV charger is built from dozens of separate parts today, each sourced, wired and tested on its own. CongaEEL and MinnoRay let a manufacturer start from two boards that are already engineered to work together, so the integration work is done before the design even reaches the bench, said Dunstan Power, Managing Director at Versinetic.
“We’re hearing the same thing from OEMs and CPOs across the market,” continues Power. “They want a connected, compliant charger without carrying the cost of features they don’t need. MinnoRay gives them that option alongside MantaRay, so the choice depends on the build, rather than what we happen to offer.”
MinnoRay is available direct from Versinetic or under licence for high-volume manufacturers building it into their own charger design.
Engineering teams wanting to discuss a single or dual socket build can visit stand EV38 at EV Charge Live to see both boards and speak to Versinetic’s engineering consultants.
Versinetic designs the control electronics and software inside AC electric vehicle chargers, drawing on fourteen years of charge point engineering that began with the control system for the London 2012 Olympic Games charge posts. The company designs robust, flexible embedded systems for EV chargers, supplying charge controller boards, load balancing hardware and charging software to EVSE manufacturers, charge point operators and installers, and also delivers bespoke EV charger designs for projects with more specific requirements.
