Dialog Semiconductor has unveiled the first programmable multiphase DC-to-DC buck converter, the DA9210, that can be scaled for use across multiple, high-end smartphone and tablet platforms to help accelerate development cycles.

iWatt Inc., a company that specialises in digital-centric power management integrated circuits (ICs), has debuted an innovative new digital AC/DC LED driver platform that has been designed to address cost, performance and operating life in commercial and wireless solid state lighting (SSL) systems. The first device in this new platform, the iW3630, is a two-stage, Flickerless LED driver with output power up to 45W and is believed to be the first SSL LED driver with a built-in 0V to 10V dimming interface for commercial lighting ballasts.

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a photocoupler that will reduce PCB space and power consumption in IGBT and MOSFET designs that need galvanic isolation. Target applications include factory automation equipment, motor drives, digital home appliances and photovoltaic power micro-inverters.

Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT8705, a very high efficiency (up to 98%) synchronous buck-boost DC/DC controller that operates from input voltages above, below or equal to the regulated output voltage. This device has four feedback loops to regulate the input current/voltage, along with the output current/voltage.

International Rectifier is expanding its family of 600V insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with the introduction of the IRGP4640D, IRGP4650D and IRGP4660D. The new rugged, reliable devices are optimised for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), solar, induction heating, industrial motor and welding applications.

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has launched its first high-current USB ready Li-ion battery charger IC which, according to the company, is able to offer one of the industry’s fastest charging currents up to 2.0A. Manufactured in the company’s advanced 0.13µm mixed-signal process technology, the TC7710WBG charger IC supports cost, power and form-factor efficiencies for optimum charging of batteries used in smartphones and mobile devices.

Murata has announced the MEJ2 series of fully encapsulated compact through-hole 2 Watt DC/DC converters. Providing a pin-compatible upgrade path from Murata’s NMJ, MEV1 and NMV series, the MEJ2 2W devices are available with either single or dual outputs covering the nominal voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12 or 15 VDC. Input voltage variants accommodate 3.3, 5, 12 or 15 VDC.
